MPSC Exam Pattern

Revised Pattern of MPSC Exam:

राज्यसेवा पूर्व परीक्षा अभ्यासक्रम GS-Paper I – (200 marks)

(1) Current events of state, national and international importance. (राज्य, राष्ट्रीय आणि आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावरील महत्वाच्या चालू घडामोडी)

(2) History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement. (भारतीय इतिहास (महाराष्ट्राच्या संदर्भात) व राष्ट्रीय चळवळ)

(3) Maharashtra, India and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of Maharashtra, India and the World. (महाराष्ट्राचा, भारताचा व जगाचा भौतिक, सामाजिक व आर्थिक भूगोल)

(4) Maharashtra and India – Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj,Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc. (महाराष्ट्राची व भारताची राज्यव्यवस्था आणि शासन)

(5) Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion,Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc. (आर्थिक व सामाजिक विकास)

(6) General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change-that do not require subject specialization. (पर्यावरणीय परिस्थिती)

(7) General Science (सामान्य विज्ञान)

CSAT-Paper II – (200 marks)

(1) Comprehension (आकलन क्षमता)

(2) Interpersonal skills including communication skills.(परस्पर संवादासह आंतर्व्याक्ती संवाद कौशल्ये)

(3) Logical reasoning and analytical ability. (तार्किक व विश्लेषण क्षमता)

(4) Decision – making and problem – solving. (निर्णय निर्धारण व समस्येचे निराकरण)

(5) General mental ability (सामान्य बौद्धिक क्षमता)

(6) Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation(Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- Class X level)(पायाभूत अंकगणित & माहितीचे अर्थान्तरण)

(7) Marathi and English Language Comprehension skills (Class X/XII level).(मराठी व इंग्रजी भाषिक आकलन कौशल्य)

MPSC has done some major changes in the pattern of exam as well as distribution of marks. One of the major changes is that there won’t be any optional subjects any more even for the Mains. There shall be 4 papers of General Studies with different components.

Following is the distribution of marks for Mains:

Only the language papers i.e. Marathi and English are 50 % descriptive and 50 % Objective in nature. Keeping in mind all these changes, the Academy has come up with rigorous batches for MPSC.


MPSC conducts separate exam for PSI/ST/ASSTI every year. Recently it has introduced certain changes in the syllabus. The revised exam pattern and syllabus is as follows:

PSI/STI/ASST all three recruitment preliminary exam will be conducted collectively from 2017 as per notification. which has following exam pattern.

 Exam will be of multiple choice and objective in nature

Mains constitutes of Two papers. Exam will be of multiple choice and objective in nature.

The Academy organizes regular and separate batches for STI, ASST., and PSI. The batches are scheduled keeping in mind the time-table declared by MPSC.
